(b)

allow any parent to redeem any registered mui-tsai shall be liable on Summary Conviction to a fine not exceeding $500, and the magistrate shall have power to make such order for the restoration of such mai-tsai as he may think fit.

II. Any female if under the age of 20 years (according to Chinese reckoning) would be a mui-tsai under the Ordinance shall have all the rights of a mui-tsai who has completed her term of service under section 8 of this Ordinance.

In the event of any employer finding any mui-tsai persistently troublesome or disobedient or for any other reason such employer is unwilling to retain such mui-tsai such employer may refer the matter to the Secretary for Chinese Affairs who may direct the employer to retain such mui-tsai, send such mui-tsai to the Po Leung Kuk or any Industrial Home or make ach other arrangements for the reception, custody,control or care of such mui-tsai as he may think proper.

II.

Any person who persistently ill-treats or is guilty of cruelty to any mai-tsai shall on Summary Conviction be liable to a fine not exceeding $500 or to imprisonment not exceeding 6 months and the magistrate may refer the case to the Secretary for Chinese Affairs who may deal with the mui-tsai as contemplate by section 10 of this Ordinance.

XII. (a) Except as otherwise provided by this Ordinance it shall not be lawful for any person to deal or trade in mui-tsais, purchase, sell, barter or transfer, or to contract for the dealing or trading in, purchase, sale, barter or transfer of mui-teais or persons intended to be dealt with as mai-tsais, or to carry away, remove import, or export, or to contract for the carrying away, removing, importing or exporting of mui-tsais or persons intended to be dealt with as mai -tsais.

(b)

Any person acting in contravention of this section shall be liable on Summary Conviction to a fine not exceeding $1,000 and to imprisonment not exceeding 1 year.
